archer house 88

Archer House 88 is the former home of Rudolf Franz Ferdinand Höß, the commandant of the Nazi Extermination Camp of Auschwitz; while he organized mass murder, he built a seemingly normal life for his family in the house, a juxtaposition that highlights how extremism can thrive in ordinary environments.

The former House 88 is being transformed by the Counter Extremism Project into the Auschwitz Research Center on Hate, Extremism, and Radicalization (ARCHER).

The goal is to take this symbol of hate and evil and transform it into an extraordinary symbol of the fight against antisemitism, extremism, and terrorism. This initiative repurposes a symbol of "unimaginable evil" into a global center for combating antisemitism, extremism, and terrorism through research, education, and policy advocacy.

The Mission and Activities are:

Research and Education: ARCHER will conduct research, offer professional training, and engage in policy advocacy to combat the spread of radicalization.

Preventing Future Radicalization: The project aims to prevent future generations from becoming victims of extremism by providing tools and knowledge to counter hate.

Art and Music: The center will also house a gallery for art and music, including a permanent exhibit of music written in concentration camps, to explore the power of art in confronting extremism.
